Zmicier Vishniou is the Belarusian prose writer, poet, and artist, an important literary voice in Belarus. He was a co-founder of the literary movement Bum-Bam-Lit, which was one of the most significant phenomena in the Belarusian literature of the 1990s. He is the author of nine books in Belarusian, including the most recent anti-novel “If You Look Closer – Mars is Blue” (2018). In 2007-2022, he was the head of “Halijafy” – one of the Belarusian leading independent publishing houses.
Poems in various anthologies, essays, and his novel “Das Brennesselhaus” (luxbooks, 2014) have appeared in German so far. Since July 2022, Zmicier Vishniou has been afellow in the Writers-in-Exile programme of the German PEN. Currently resides in Berlin.
